My goat adventure began in 2003 with the purchase of 3 Pygmy goats I bought from an animal swap in Waterloo, Il. One of the goats would go on to be the inspiration of my farm name, his name was Charmer. He was an adorable little goat with a big and wonderful personality! Over the next several years I would acquire more goats. I eventually got into dairy goats. My first was a Nigerian Dwarf named Mavis. I learned to milk and very soon realized I needed more milk! I did my research and decided that the Nubian would be the best for me and my family! I had bought a few Nubians and then I came upon these 2 sweet little girls, they were Mini Lamancha goats (A Lamancha and Nigerian cross). While milking these girls along with my Nubians, I discovered that they were giving almost as much milk. I decided I would like to start breeding for the Mini Nubian. They have all of the great qualities of the Nubian, only smaller. They are easier to handle, require less food and less area to house them. The great qualities of both breeds combined, to me, make the perfect goat! In 2012 my husband and I traveled to Wisconsin to get a breeding trio from Green Gables Mini Nubians. I had also begun breeding with my own stock. Currently I have Nubians, Nigerians and Mini Nubian goats. I have worked hard to get where I am, and I will continue to do so! When breeding any goat, I always strive to make the best and highest quality that I can! That has been and always will be my goal!! Thank you for stopping by and have a great day! :)
